MEET BEN
New Leadership Delivering Results for Our Community
Ben was born in Toledo, Ohio, attended Hamilton College as an undergraduate with a degree in international relations, where he also learned Mandarin Chinese, and the University of Washington where he received an MA in East Asian Studies. Before moving to Milton 11 years ago, Ben spent time in Washington DC, where his children were born, and then Singapore. Ben has been working in nonprofit administration for almost twenty years, starting at Johns Hopkins University, and spending time at Conservation International, Harvard, and Boston Children’s before accepting his current role as Vice Dean of Advancement at the Brown School of Public Health in 2021.
Over his professional career, Ben has been a featured speaker at several Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) events, including chairing two CASE International conferences in Chicago and Miami.
Ben lives on Canton Avenue in Milton with his fiancée, Jennifer Meyers, and their blended family of four children. Between their kids, they have had children at Glover, Tucker, Collicot, Pierce, and Milton High School. Ben’s family are involved in arts events for the schools and Milton, including Pierce Players, MHS Theater (featuring Florian Zoll as Chip in Beauty in the Beast this past fall), strings, orchestra, and Mel O’Drama.
In town, Ben served on Town Meeting in Precinct 2 for three years before his relocation to Precinct 5. He has also volunteered with the Milton Foundation for Education. Ben has been the main organizer of a Milton adult soccer league for the past several years. You may have heard Ben and Jen play as the duo Owl Haus at Porchfest, the farmer’s market, last year’s fundraiser for the Milton Public Library.
